Carlo Alberto Avizzano has become an official affiliate of EMbeDS in May 2021.
Carlo Alberto is an Associate Professor of Robotics & Automation at the Sant'Anna School. In 1999 he obtained a PhD in Robotics from Sant'Anna. He is currently director of the PERCRO Perceptual Robotics Laboratory at the Mechanical Intelligence Institute and he coordinates the Intelligent Automation System research group.
He is also adjunct professor at the University of Pisa, where he teaches courses in Mechanics, Mechatronics, Simulation and Control for robotic and embedded systems.
The research of Carlo Alberto's group focuses on Digital Transformation, Intelligent Manufacturing, predictive and condition based maintenance, visually guided cognitive robotic interaction and Intelligent Navigation Systems. The group works on the integration of advanced sensors and perception devices into reliable control loops and robotic setups to develop highly skilled automation systems. Their research is applied in many fields, including health and medicine, sports, home automation and assistance to impaired people, and the automotive, transportation, energy, manufacturing and design sectors.
Carlo Alberto is a member of numerous national and international committees: IEEE-RAM, HCI, MIMOS, IROS, ICRA, IEEE RO-MAN. He is the Author / Inventor of six patents and co-author of about 180 articles in selected international journals and congresses.
