Applications are now open for 44 fully funded positions in the new PhD in Artificial Intelligence & Society, a multi-disciplinary PhD course for cutting-edge research in human-centered Artificial Intelligence and its impacts on society.

The new program in AI & Society is run by Università di Pisa in partnership with: National Research Council - CNR, Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, Scuola Normale Superiore, Scuola IMT Lucca, Università di Firenze, Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia, Università di Siena, and Università di Trento.
In addition to the partners, other collaborating institutions are: Università di Bari, Università di Bologna, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Università dell’Aquila, Università degli Studi di Napoli L’Orientale, Università di Sassari, Università di Trieste, INDAM (Istituto Nazionale di Alta Matematica “Francesco Severi”), Open Fiber SpA.
The program in AI & Society is part of PhD-AI.it, a broad and innovative Italian National PhD Program in Artificial Intelligence comprising five federated programs and bringing together 61 Italian universities and research institutions. The five federated programs share a common basis in the foundations and developments of AI, and each one has one area of specialisation in a strategic sector of AI application. Each of the five programs is run by a lead university in collaboration with the National Research Council CNR, and each has a set of partners and collaborating institutions. The five programs are:

- AI & Agrifood and Environment, Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II
- AI & Security and Cybersecurity, Sapienza Università di Roma
- AI & Industry 4.0, Politecnico di Torino
- AI & Society, Università di Pisa
